This position will work at Fuller Lake Arena on a casual basis. Reporting to the Recreation Programmer, the successful candidate will deliver quality and progressive educational and recreational opportunities in an enjoyable and safe manner to the public. Schedules may include work on weekends, evenings, statutory holidays, and will be dependent on programs, activities and public skate sessions being offered.

Specific duties include:

• Teaching skate lessons, ice patrol, skate shop operation, program delivery and building maintenance;
• Establishing and maintaining positive relations with facility user groups and the general public;
• Providing direct instruction and leadership for program offerings;
• Maintaining equipment and supplies used for programs and functions;
• Leading the operation and security of programs on assigned shifts;
• Enforcing rules and regulations when necessary; and
• Performing other work on an as‑needed

Deployment to other duties may be required from time to time.

Required Skills, Qualifications and Abilities:

1. Completion of Grade
2. Possession and maintenance of current Standard First Aid
3. Proficiency in ice skating and possession of own skates and CSA approved
4. Experience in program content delivery for a range of innovative recreational programs, services and
5. Basic knowledge and commitment to WorkSafeBC, Ministry of Health, BC Safety Authority regulations and safety procedures and other related regulatory requirements as related to the safe operation of arena facilities.
6. Demonstrable ability to receive and implement directions, manage competing priorities, meet facility standards and ideals and work towards excellence in the operation of the Arena.
