Site Supervisor - Permanent Full Time

Location: Multiple Locations, Toronto, ON, CA.

Start Date: August 1, 2024.

Hours: 35 Hours/Week. Openings: 3. Position Type: Full-time (Permanent).

Position Summary

Macaulay Centres for Children is seeking three (3) Site Supervisors for our new child care locations opening fall 2024:

  • St. Jude Child Care Centre – 3251 Weston Rd, North York, ON M9M 2T9
  • St. Thomas Aquinas Child Care Centre – 636 Glenholme Ave, York, ON M6E 3G9
  • St. Jane Frances Child Care Centre – 2745 Jane St, North York, ON M3L 2E8

The Site Supervisor works in a classroom for part of each day developing and leading the implementation of high quality developmentally appropriate programs for children to facilitate their physical, social, emotional and cognitive growth. Leads the implementation of programs and activities that facilitate the inclusion and integration of children with extra support needs. Supports a team environment in the classroom and the Centre. This position is accountable to lead, plan, organise and coordinate day‑to‑day activities and operations of Child Care Centres and/or programs.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and facilitate planning, implementation and execution of programs to achieve annual goals and strategic objectives consistent with the Agency philosophy, vision, mission and values and meet funder standards and requirements
  • Implement new integrated projects or strategies supporting the team by functioning as a key contributor accountable to monitor project goals and measure desired quality outcomes
  • Provide leadership and support to enable the contribution of each staff member to participate in the delivery of high‑quality programs and community development experiences to children and families respectful of diversity and social inclusion
  • Coordinate and implement a range of community outreach and promotional activities to recruit children and families to achieve optimum enrolment in programs
  • Objectively evaluate referrals of children with extra support needs for placement into the program, identify and access resources required to support integration
  • Implement a range of opportunities and strategies to promote parent engagement, evaluate engagement strategies and adjust as required
  • Liaise with significant agencies and sector professionals regarding resources available to support children with extra support needs and their families, coordinate consultations as required
  • Consistently monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, community needs and adjust accordingly
  • Advocate for children and families to influence resource allocation decisions within political, economic, and social systems and institutions
  • Ensures new staff, volunteers and students are oriented to the centre or program
  • Prepare the centre and the team to achieve a clear license annually in compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act and Toronto Children’s Early Learning and Care Assessment for Quality Improvement
  • Manage program enrolment and anticipate needs for new offerings to support the viability of the program and / or centre and Agency
  • Model the practice of confidentiality with staff, colleagues, children and families
  • Approve staff and / or provider schedules and vacation requests in a timely manner
  • Approve and submit timesheets to meet payroll schedule
  • Effectively manage Collective Agreements in force between Macaulay its staff and providers
  • Provide leadership to ensure the requirements of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and the Smoke Free Ontario Act are met
  • Participate and contribute to management committees and project teams as required
  • Comply with the spirit and intent of Macaulay policies and practices, attend work regularly and support agency initiatives
  • Collects and prepares reports of operating statistical data
  • Ensures maintenance and confidentiality of all staff and family files
  • Accountable to ensure timely investigation and reporting of serious occurrence documentation and elevate information appropriately within the Agency
  • Attend Supervisor network meetings as required
  • Conduct annual evaluations for all supervised positions
  • Work collaboratively with teams to plan and execute special events
Qualifications
  • Early Childhood Education degree with 3 years’ experience or diploma with 5 years’ experience in group care.
  • Experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong working knowledge of the ELECT framework, How Does Learning Happen, and program planning based on play‑based curriculum.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of child development.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Child and Early Years Act and Toronto Children’s Early Learning and Care Assessment for Quality Improvement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with children with extra support needs within a child care setting.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and excellent problem‑solving skills to meet the day‑to‑day requirements of the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective work partnerships with parents / families, colleagues and service providers of diverse backgrounds, abilities and identities.
  • Experience working within the school settings.
  • Member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
  • Acceptable Vulnerable Police Record Check.
  • Current First Aid certification and appropriate medical and immunisation record.
Salary and Benefits

Site Supervisor Salary Scale (Starting at $65,065-$74,447 per annum) with Competitive Benefits Package (health & dental) and paid time off entitlements (starting at 20 vacation days & 5 float days).

THIS POSITION IS NOT WITHIN THE CUPE LOCAL 2563 BARGAINING UNIT.
