Salary - $120,000 - $140,000

Overview

Our client, a well-established construction company with a strong reputation for delivering quality commercial and institutional projects, is seeking an experienced Site Superintendent to join their team. The ideal candidate will be a proven site leader who can drive safety, quality, and efficiency while maintaining strong relationships with trades, consultants, and project stakeholders.

This role is key to ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget — all while upholding the highest standards of workmanship and professionalism.

Reporting to: Director of Construction

Key Responsibilities
  1. Site Leadership & Safety
  • Champion a culture of safety and ensure compliance with all Occupational Health & Safety regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct daily safety walks, toolbox talks, and ensure proper documentation of incidents and corrective actions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free job site.
  1. Project Execution & Scheduling
  • Oversee all on-site construction activities, ensuring work aligns with project plans and timelines.
  • Manage and post a six-week lookahead schedule, coordinating with the Project Manager and trades.
  • Hold subcontractors accountable for schedule commitments and quality expectations.
  1. Quality Control & Site Documentation
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure work meets specifications and quality standards.
  • Maintain daily site reports, timecards, and logs of safety observations, manpower, and progress.
  • Keep site paperwork and permits organized and up to date.
  1. Communication & Coordination
  • Serve as the main on-site contact for trades, consultants, and client representatives.
  • Lead coordination meetings and address on-site challenges promptly and collaboratively.
  • Report project status, risks, and progress to the Project Manager regularly.
  1. Cost Awareness & Risk Management
  • Identify potential change orders and site conditions impacting budget or timeline.
  • Support cost tracking by providing accurate and timely site updates.
  • Proactively flag risks and contribute to mitigation planning.
  1. Technology & Process Adherence
  • Utilize construction management software (Procore, MS Project, or equivalent) for documentation, RFIs, and progress tracking.
  • Promote the use of digital tools among site staff and trades.
  1. Leadership & Mentorship
  • Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and site labor.
  • Mentor junior site staff and foster a positive, team-oriented work culture.
  • Provide constructive feedback and performance oversight of on-site personnel.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in a supervisory or foreperson role in construction.
  • Strong knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, OHSA, and local construction practices.
  • Proven success in delivering projects on schedule and to quality standards.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (Procore, MS Project, or similar).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Relevant safety certifications (e.g., Working at Heights, First Aid, WHMIS).
