Job description

Horizon Recruitment Inc is conducting the search for a Site based Procurement and Contracts Lead for our large project focused client.

This role will manage contracts for a large construction project in Northern BC. Reporting to the project director, this position will represent the owner's interests throughout the planning and construction phase while ensuring day to day operations are maintained with high efficiency.

Initially a 12-month contract this role is likely to receive extensions as additional projects are approved.

Responsibilities
  • Develop contract strategies to minimize risk
  • Manage major EPC vendor contracts
  • Manage all post-award vendor relationships with service providers, equipment and materials vendors
  • Manage relationships with indigenous stakeholders and service providers
  • Act as owner's representative in all contractual interactions.
  • Negotiate all change orders, claims, and scope inquiries
  • Track project budgets and schedules for contract portfolio
  • Assist with the development of scope of work and RFx for construction tenders
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers and construction/site managers to ensure vendors are completing work to schedule and to required quality levels.
Requirements
  • University level degree ideally in engineering or construction management disciplines.
  • 10+ years of experience working in a project environment, ideally with experience managing both operations and project related contracts.
  • 8+ years of experience working in Mining, Construction, Oil & Gas etc.
  • 5+ years of experience in contract administration/contract management
  • Will be required in the Vancouver office and on site frequently through the project delivery phase
  • Strong pre-award sourcing/procurement experience.
  • Experience with Risk assessment and risk management
  • Exceptional communication skills; both written and verbal.
  • Customer service focused approach to contract management
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
Rewards
  • $100-$110/hr target pay rate
