Site Medical Lead - Access Transcona

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority Primary Care Program is seeking a Site Medical Lead.

The Site Medical Lead provides leadership for the planning, organization and quality of medical care provided to clients at the site. Reports to Community Area Director and consults with WRHA Regional Primary Care Medical Director/Chief Medical Officer as required.

As part of an integrated multidisciplinary team:

  • Supports the WRHA mission, vision and values.
  • Assists the WRHA Primary Care Program in the planning and coordination of service delivery based on a system wide model.
  • Ensures that WRHA Medical Staff By-laws and WRHA policies, procedures and standards are observed by Site medical staff.
  • Recommends to the WRHA Primary Care Program the appointments of medical staff in accordance with guidelines.
  • Ensures scheduling for medical staff including the call schedule to ensure adequate medical coverage.
  • Manages the medical remuneration budget and ensures the budget is on target.
  • Performs annual performance evaluation for primary care physicians who report directly to the position.
  • Ensures the arrangements for the orientation of new site physicians.
  • Chairs medical meetings and reports relevant information to the Community Area Management Team.
  • Works as part of an interdisciplinary team to resolve concerns and complaints about the quality of client care.
  • Participates in business planning for the development of budgets, policies and procedures, and Quality Improvement Plan.
  • Attends meetings (or appoints designate) to represent the Site Program as availability permits.
  • Develops relevant linkages between the Site Program and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinates or delegates site educational programs involving family medicine students and residents and other health professionals.
  • Encourages clinical research at the site.
  • Facilitates physician participation in staff and patient education.
  • Works as part of an interdisciplinary team to ensure that the site meets the accreditation criteria outlined in the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation, and participates in the accreditation process.
