Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. in Ontario seeks a Site Inspector to join our construction and inspection team across Ontario. You will verify field work, ensure contract compliance, monitor quality and safety, and keep projects on track.

Ideal candidates have a Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Management background with 2–4 years of site inspection experience, strong communication skills, and willingness to travel to regional projects in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related field.
• 2–4 years’ experience in construction inspection or site supervision on heavy civil projects.
• Knowledge of earthworks, concrete, structural steel, utilities; inspection/testing protocols.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to document findings clearly with stakeholders.
• High attention to detail; strong organizational skills; manage multiple tasks on fast-moving sites.
• Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle; willingness to travel regionally.
• Familiar with MS Office and mobile inspection tools; Bluebeam experience is a plus.
• Overtime/weekend work may be required depending on project phase.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine on-site inspections of construction activities to ensure they align with contract documents, drawings, specifications, and safety standards.
• Review pre-construction conditions and coordinate with contractors to document field work and deviations.
• Prepare daily inspection reports, maintain photographic and diary records, and elevate issues as required.
• Monitor contractor performance including materials, workmanship, permits, testing, and hold-points; raise non-conformance reports when necessary.
• Liaise with contractors, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to ensure timely resolution of issues and compliance across disciplines.
• Participate in site meetings, attend pre-inspections and walk-throughs, and support project close-out efforts by compiling final inspection records and punch-lists.
• Use mobile tools and reporting software (e.g., Excel, Outlook) to document and track inspection activities.

Your Opportunity

We are currently seeking a dedicated Site Inspector to support our construction and inspection team on major civil and infrastructure projects across Ontario. Education and Experience

• Minimum of 2-4 years’ experience in construction inspection, site supervision, or a related role on heavy civil/infrastructure projects.

• Strong working knowledge of construction methods (earthworks, concrete, structural steel, utilities) and inspection/testing protocols.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to clearly document findings and interact professionally with stakeholders at all levels.

• High attention to detail, strong organizational ability, and ability to manage multiple tasks on fast-moving sites.

• Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle; comfortable travelling to regional projects and working in diverse weather conditions.

• Familiarity with MS Office suite and mobile inspection/reporting tools. Experience with Bluebeam or similar is an asset.

Pay Range:

Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$73,800.00 - $107,000.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
