Job summary

York is seeking a Site Foreman to support the Site Superintendent in overseeing on-site construction activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. You will lead skilled workers from trade partners, coordinate subcontractors, enforce safety regulations, and liaise with the project management team for smooth site operations.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of on-site leadership experience in light industrial or commercial settings, with strong safety focus

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in a similar role.
• Experience on light industrial and commercial projects.
• Leadership for safety excellence required.
• NCSO certification strongly preferred.
• Journeyman Carpenter preferred.
• Fall protection, AWP and forklift tickets & experience required.
• First aid training preferred.
• Collaborative and flexible approach, able to meet deadlines.
• Provide leadership and technical guidance to team members.
• Strive to improve company processes and product quality.

Responsibilities

• Daily communication with trades and field teams.
• Site coordination of workforce, sub-trades, suppliers and field workers.
• Conduct site safety orientation and weekly safety meetings.
• Implement and enforce OHS and York Construction Health and Safety Program.
• Maintain field documentation such as daily logs and safety reports.
• Coordinate materials in and out of the site.
• Supervise smaller projects and support team members.
• Some manual labour may be required.

Position Summary

The Site Foreman will support the Site Superintendent in overseeing on‑site construction activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role involves managing teams of skilled workers from our trade partners, coordinating subcontractors, enforcing safety regulations, and liaising with the project management team to ensure smooth and efficient site operations. This individual is a hands‑on leader with effective
communication and problem‑solving skills, who excels in both technical construction knowledge and team management.

Key Responsibilities

• Daily communication with trades

• Site coordination of workforce (sub-trades, suppliers, and field workers)

• Conduct site safety orientation and weekly safety meetings with sub-trades

• Implement and enforce the requirements of OHS and York Construction Health and Safety Program

• Responsible for field documentation such as daily logs, conduct daily
  safety inspections and other required reports

• Coordinate materials in and out

• Supervision of smaller projects

• Some manual labour may be required

Bona Fide Occupational Requirements (BFOR)

• The ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and safely as part of daily duties.

• The ability to walk long distances over uneven terrain as required by the nature of the work. This includes navigating areas with potential obstacles and varying surfaces.

What you bring to York

• At least 1 year of experience in a similar role is required

• Experience working on projects in a variety of sectors – light industrial and commercial

• Leadership for Safety Excellence required

• NCSO is strongly preferred
