Job summary

Autism Services in Canada seeks a hands-on Simulation Lab Assistant to support the SLC operations. You will orient new simulation assistants, coordinate supplies and equipment, and collaborate with vendors and educational partners to ensure readiness for events and scenarios.

You will assist technicians with setup and teardown, conduct product research, and maintain standards for practice and equipment across national and international partners.

Responsibilities

• Assist with orientation of new simulation assistants to SLC.
• Collaborate with SLC coordinator for the acquisition of supplies and equipment, purchasing, storage and provision of lab supplies and equipment, including bi-annual inventory count.
• Perform product and vendor research.
• Assess supply and equipment product suitability, availability, program value and performance in relationship to the objectives of the SLC.
• Prepare and present supplies and equipment for specific events, e.g. instillation of fluid compartments of simulators, dressing bundles, simulated sutures, wound care simulators, heat sealed instruments.
• Dismantle and store supplies and equipment following simulation events/scenarios.
• Assist the technician with the physical preparation and dismantling of simulation equipment.
• Establish and maintain working relationships (both national and international) with counterparts from other educational institutions, simulation lab professionals, vendors, community representatives, health industry/education leaders.
• Work as a member of the SLC team.
• Liaise with faculty and health region representatives regarding current standards of practice, policies, procedures and preferred products.
