Job summary

CPKC seeks an Assistant Director Signals and Communications in Toronto to lead and coordinate S&C operations, guiding both unionized and non-union teams to deliver safe, reliable signaling and communications services. You will drive maintenance planning and ensure adherence to budgets and standards.

You will oversee testing, materials, inventory, and the apprenticeship program while mentoring leaders and craft staff, and upholding the health and safety plan for the region in a demanding 24/7

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED—required or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
• 10 years of S&C maintenance, construction, testing and commissioning experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver an integrated maintenance plan for Signals & Communications.
• Oversee all maintenance and construction activities within the territory and recommend regional upgrades.
• Oversee testing services to ensure safe, reliable S&C systems on schedule and within budget.
• Utilize the collective agreement to support effective work management.
• Assist with subcontract scopes of work and ensure compliance with standards and methods.
• Mentor S&C employees in apprenticeship programs and guide leaders and craft staff.
• Oversee health and safety plans for the region and ensure compliance.
• Remain reliable and flexible in a 24/7 operational environment, addressing emergencies to reduce service interruptions.
