Job summary

Fero Waste and Recycling Inc. in Fredericton, NB, is seeking a Driver responsible for the safe operation of a Class 3 Side Load vehicle and for inspecting, cleaning, and maintaining equipment. You will drive routes, complete tasks on time, and communicate with dispatch to ensure smooth deliveries.

The role requires a valid Class 3 CDL with air brake, the ability to follow a schedule, strong teamwork and customer-focused communication, and prior waste/recycling or curbside experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Valid commercial driver’s license (Class 3) with air brake endorsement.
  • Ability to follow a firm work schedule as directed by supervisor.
  • Strong customer focus and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to operate and maintain safety of equipment, reporting issues promptly.
  • Experience in waste/recycling or curbside collection preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Side Load tandem truck on assigned routes safely and efficiently.
  • Complete routes on time and maintain timely delivery/collection.
  • Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections of trucks.
  • Check in with Dispatcher for departure/return times.
  • Load and unload heavy materials and equipment as required.
  • Maintain radio contact with supervisor for instructions.
  • Report maintenance or safety issues promptly.
  • Complete end-of-day paperwork accurately.
  • Ensure safety of coworkers and a safe work environment.

Fero Waste and Recycling Inc, a division of The Municipal Group of Companies, is a solid waste company that services New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

Job Summary

The Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a Class 3 Side load vehicle. The Driver is also responsible for inspecting, cleaning, and maintaining the equipment.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities
  • Drive Side Load tandem truck in a safe and efficient manner on assigned routes to fulfill contractual requirements.
  • Ensure assigned routes are completed in a timely and safe manner.
  • Perform daily pre‑and post‑trip inspections of the trucks assigned.
  • Check in with Dispatcher to determine departure and return times.
  • Load and unload heavy materials, tools, and equipment under varying traffic and road conditions.
  • Maintain telephone or radio contact with the appropriate supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
  • Advise Supervisor of any maintenance or repair requirements.
  • Report any driving infractions and/or suspensions.
  • Perform end‑of‑day driver check‑ins to ensure complete and accurate paperwork completion.
  • Be aware of surroundings at all times.
  • Ensure the safety of fellow employees.
  • Maintain a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, And Experience
  • Valid commercial driver’s license with clear driver abstract.
  • Class 3 driver’s license with air brake in good standing.
  • Ability to follow a firm work schedule as directed by supervisor.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and comply with procedures.
  • Ability to operate required equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Effective communication with co‑workers and supervisors to ensure projects are completed properly.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer focus.
  • Good coordination, ability to lift 20–75 pounds regularly.
  • Proven ability to multi‑task and prioritize tasks.
  • Previous waste and/or recycling experience preferred.
  • Residential curbside collection experience preferred.
  • Working safely is a condition of employment.
