Position Type: Tutorial Leader
Course Title: JCP221H5S Thermodynamics
Course Description: An introduction to equilibrium thermodynamics with application to ideal and non-ideal systems: covering the concepts of work and heat, the laws of thermodynamics, internal energy, enthalpy and entropy, the chemical potential, states of matter, phase rules and phase diagrams, and chemical equilibria. Kinetics topics include rate laws, both differential and integrated, rate constants, activated complex theory, and temperature effects.
Number of Positions (est): 4 positions. Positions are dependent on actual course enrolment, and are not guaranteed.
Course Enrolment (est): 250 students
Hours of work (est): 31.5 hours

Sessional dates of appointment: January 2026 – April 2026
Salary: CUPE3902 Unit 3 Salaries. The rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Qualifications: M.Sc. in Chemistry and/or Physics. Sound knowledge in contents covered in the course required. Previous TA/SIA experience marking assignments, quizzes, tests and/or final exam and working with undergraduate students in Chemistry and/or Physics tutorial setting an asset to be able to demonstrate and deliver course content consistently within the UofT's standards. Good communication skills are required as well.
Description of Duties: Duties will include leading tutorials, marking quizzes/assignments, and/or midterms/final examination. May also include invigilation of term tests and/or final exam.
