Responsibilities

• Implement maintenance activities for ferries and pontoon structures.
• Provide troubleshooting and repair advice to crew.
• Direct activities of Relief Engineers and Mates.
• Inspect and maintain fire and safety equipment.
• Assist in preparing specifications for engine rebuilds.
• Maintain cleanliness of the ferry maintenance facility.
• Act as Ferry Engineer when required.
• Fuel ferries properly according to practices.
• Maintain logbooks and records as per procedures.

Skills

Expertise with Caterpillar diesel engines

Expertise with Twin Disc marine gearboxes

Experience with onboard computerized systems

Proficiency in Microsoft software

Technical report composition

Education

Grade 12 or equivalent

4th Class Marine Engineer Certificate or higher

Current Marine Medical

Full M.E.D. Certificate (A2, B1, B2, C, D)

Valid First Aid

Current Confined Space Entry Certificate

Valid Driver’s License
