Under the direction of the Service Manager, the Service Technician is responsible for assisting customers on scheduled service, repair, and modifications to the brands of equipment represented by the Company. Technicians will be required to communicate with customers and must be able to operate and navigate various digital reporting tools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Meet deadlines established by the Service Manager
- Perform timely and accurate diagnostics and repairs on various equipment systems:
Heavy Construction Equipment hydraulic systems
Heavy Construction Equipment mechanical systems
Heavy Construction Equipment electrical systems
- Communicate work required/performed verbally and using digital service support platforms.
- Communicate work required/performed with customers.
- Request parts using service support tools as directed by the Service Manager and ensures accuracy.
- Practice safe work habits in accordance with Closner shop standards
- Use and maintain shop tools and equipment according to company procedures and safety standards.
- Maintain a reasonably clean workspace.
- Complete required paperwork efficiently and timely
- Attend factory and other training as specified by the supervisor.
- Demonstrate the ability and willingness to continuously improve trade skill sets.
- Work towards certifications.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma
- Minimum two years of experience in the troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of heavy construction equipment
- Good Mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Knowledge of construction equipment with an advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams
- Knowledgeable of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics
- Welding or pneumatic experience is a plus
- Experience in the infrastructure industry preferred
- Required to pass a background and driving record check
- Excellent knowledge of the equipment systems
- Strong PC skills including MS Office (Word and Excel)
- Willing to work overtime on during week and on occasional weekends/ holidays, as needed
- Exercise a strong work ethic and integrity
- Perform well in a team environment
- Accept accountability for actions
- Must provide own hand tools up to 2-inch combination wrenches and socket wrenches. Some power tools required: ½ drive air impact, air drill, air die cutter, and a multimeter.
- High level of customer service
- Good written and verbal communication skills

- Physical ability to perform maintenance on equipment for extended hours of time with continual mounting and dismounting throughout the workday.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces.
- Pushing/ Pulling/Lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Able to sit for long periods at a time while driving to jobsites if required.
- Sufficient hearing to be aware of traffic, warning signals, passenger stop indicator, passenger requests, etc.
- Able to use both hands and both feet concurrently.
- Able to safely reach all controls and have good visibility in all directions while seated in the driver's seat.
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions, including heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration.
This position is considered a safety-sensitive position. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
