Job summary

Qualifications

  • Valve assembly/disassembly experience is an asset.
  • Forklift experience with license is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and test equipment for safe service.

  • Conduct hydrostatic, seat leakage, positioner calibration and other tests.
  • Ensure proper identification tags and QC labeling.
  • Maintain shop tools and keep a clean, safe workspace.

Job description

The Shop Technician plays an essential role in delivering customer service excellence to SAMSON’s customers and internal colleagues and partners. Reporting to the Operation & Service Manager, the Shop Technician is responsible for the assembly and testing of all equipment (individual or full assembly) for the safe use in service while adhering to all OHSA requirements, company policies and safety practices.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Communicates directly and pro-actively with internal stakeholders.
  • Organizes picked goods and assembles materials as per customer order requirements
  • Follows production schedule as set by the Operations Supervisor ensuring order completion meets delivery date requirements
  • Ensures final assemblies are functional by conducting tests including but not limited to hydrostatic tests, seat leakage tests, 5-point positioner calibration tests, hysteresis tests, fail safe position tests, overall function tests
  • Ensures all the proper identification tags are affixed to all outgoing products prior to shipment being released ie. valve order label, valve tag number, CRN tag, final QC test and inspection tag
  • Maintains and monitors all shop tools and service equipment
  • Maintains a clean and safe workspace
  • Ensures shop & warehouse is maintained daily
Back-up Duties:
  • Provides back-up support for Shipper/Receiver and Service technician role as required based on operational requirements and leaves.
Other Duties:
  • Logs non-conformances and provide reports to the Quality Department
  • Operates Class I forklift as required
  • Provides training for new employees as required
  • Complies with OHSA, company policies and procedures, and safety practices to ensure the safety of every worker performing on duty to SAMSON
  • Adheres to SAMSON‘s Quality standards and Code of Conduct
  • Participates in all company required training
  • Other duties as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Relevant trade school preferred (electromechanical, machining), or High school related program, or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Basic tooling knowledge and mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally with team members
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Innovative problem-solving skills and able to adapt to changing priorities
  • High attention to detail
  • Prior experience in Valve assembly/disassembly is an asset
  • Class I forklift experience required, license is an asset
Description of the Work Environment:
  • Shop and warehouse, infrequently in the office
Amount of Travel:
  • May require travel for training or in case of service technician backup
Work Schedule:
  • 8:30am to 5:00pm, however hours may vary based on operational requirements.
