Job summary

Alstar Group in Calgary SE is seeking a Shop QA/QC professional to perform dimensional and visual inspections in our fabrication shop. The role requires 2+ years of Quality Control experience, CWB Level 1, and a solid understanding of ASME and CSA codes, with focus on safety in a busy shop environment.

The successful candidate will handle documentation for hydrostatic and pneumatic tests, record welding symbols and heat numbers, and coordinate inspections with ABSA and NDE teams.

Qualifications

• Possess CWB Level 1 Certification.
• Have 2+ years of prior Quality Control experience.
• Have Common Safety Orientation ticket.
• Have a solid understanding of ASME and CSA codes and practices.
• Commitment to safety and safe work practices.
• Able to perform welding and dimensional inspections.
• Record welders' symbols, heat numbers, and radiography numbers.
• Be able to work in a manufacturing facility with other trades.

Responsibilities

• Complete dimension and visual inspections of welded piping and structural steel.
• Prepare documentation for hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure tests.
• Install name plates and coordinate inspections with ABSA, NDE Contractors and Client TPI's.
• Complete Quality Control paperwork.
• Be able to work outdoors/indoors in extreme weather and lift up to 60 lbs.

Positions are available for weekday shifts and weekend shifts.

• Have the ability to perform outside/inside work, sometimes in extreme weather conditions
• Meet the physical demands of the position
• Be able to lift up to 60lbs, work at heights, be agile, and be able to go on/off equipment, up/down ladders
• Experience in welding and ASME equipment and piping is an asset
