Job summary

Vertex Resource Group is seeking a Shop Foreman to lead our Nisku, AB shop, focusing on industrial cleaning and heavy equipment. Local candidate preferred to manage repairs, inventories, and daily workflow.

You will prioritize tasks, supervise staff, and ensure regulatory inspections and CVIPs are completed on schedule, while coordinating with procurement and fleet teams.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years leadership experience in a workshop.
• Background in Industrial Cleaning and heavy equipment.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Oversee repair and maintenance for light trucks, heavy trucks, trailers, equipment and inventory.
• Plan work priorities, scheduling and staffing in the shop.
• Supervise daily activities to ensure timely repairs.
• Coordinate shipping/receiving of inventory.
• Review repair orders and inspect quality before release.
• Ensure vehicle inspections and CVIPs completed per regulations.
• Maintain daily repair/service records.
• Coordinate rentals and permits with Fleet and Transportation Compliance.
• Provide regular maintenance reports for Vertex Fleet.
• Keep inventory up to date with Procurement.
• Oversee equipment readiness and return from jobs.
• Ensure consumables are charged for repairs.
• Coordinate third-party shops for repairs.
• Align with Vertex mission and corporate goals.

We are currently looking for a Shop Foreman to join our Nisku, AB Vertex Team. We are looking to hire a local candidate.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Managing overall repair and maintenance for light trucks, heavy trucks, trailers, equipment and inventory
• Responsible to prioritize work, job allocation and job flow in the workshop including job scheduling, allocation for the day-to-day operations and managing operating/staffing costs of the shop
• Supervising staff daily activities to ensure efficient job performance and timely repairs
• Supervise accurate shipping and receiving of inventory
• Review repair orders and inspect the quality of repairs done before release of vehicles and equipment
• Ensure required vehicle inspections, equipment certificates, annual CVIPs are completed per expiry dates and government regulations
• Maintain and manage daily records of repairs and services to vehicles and equipment
• Work with Transportation Compliance and Vertex Fleet to coordinate rentals, permits and out of province reports
• Ensure the Vertex Fleet receives regular maintenance reports
• Work with Vertex Procurement team to ensure inventory is kept up to date and communicate when needed
  
• Overseeing equipment and inventory is ready for jobs and receiving equipment/inventory back from jobs
• Ensuring Vertex Accounting is provided consumables used and that jobs are charged for equipment repairs
• Coordinate third party maintenance/repair shops for scheduling equipment for repairs
• Understand and demonstrate Vertex's mission, vision, and values; constantly strive to support Vertex's achievements of corporate goals and objective
  

Candidate Qualifications

• Drug & Alcohol Testing (Provided by Vertex)
• Valid Class 5 drivers license with clean commercial drivers abstract
• 3-5 years experience in a leadership role
• Experience/familiar with Industrial Cleaning and Heavy Duty Equipment
• Excellent leadership and team building skills
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Excellent organizational skills and record keeping
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must be in good health and physical condition to perform duties assigned

Assets to Have

• Valid Class 1 or 3 drivers license
