Job summary

Transcat is seeking a shipping/receiving associate in Canada to handle verification of shipments, packing, labeling, and documentation. You will work with carriers to arrange pickups and ensure accuracy of records and materials going in and out of the facility.

Responsibilities include inspecting shipments, resolving discrepancies, and supporting lean processes to maintain efficient lab operations.

Qualifications

  • Requires valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Must be detail oriented and accurate with documentation.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED; or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Verify incoming/outgoing shipments against bills of lading, invoices, and orders.
  • Determine shipment method compliant with policies and customer specs.
  • Coordinate with Freight Company for large shipments; manage pickups.
  • Attach shipping labels and identify packaging information.
  • Assemble/reassemble containers and prepare shipments.
  • Stamp and label crates with appropriate shipping details.
  • Record weights, shipping charges, and postage; manage paperwork.
  • Inspect shipments for damage, report issues, and coordinate repairs.
  • Distribute items to the correct recipient or area; ensure accuracy.

Responsibilities
  • Compare identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records. Enters appropriate data in proper computer system
  • Determines method of shipment that complies with established policies and procedures and customer specifications
  • Coordinate with Freight Company for shipments too large for parcel pickup
  • Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons
  • Assembles and/or selects reassembled containers
  • Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers
  • Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage
  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, reports damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Distributes items to appropriate individual and/or area
  • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet customer requirements
