Shipping Coordinator, Temporary-Full Time, Brooks, Alberta

With approximately 3,300 employees, JBS Food Canada ULC ("JBS Canada") is one of Canada's largest beef processors. Consisting of four locations—the main processing facility located in Brooks, Alberta, where approximately 4,200 head of cattle are harvested and processed daily; the Head Office and a case ready plant, both based in Calgary, Alberta; and JBS Ontario, a case ready plant located in Belleville, Ontario. The JBS Canada facility in Brooks has the capacity to produce products ranging from boxed beef primal, ground beef, beef trimmings, beef by-products and hides which are shipped across Canada and worldwide. At the multi-protein Mountain Creek Farms case-ready facility in Calgary, JBS Canada produces value-added products including marinated, portion sized, multi-pack options, kebabs and much more. JBS Ontario in Belleville produces fresh meat and seafood products for leading retailers in Canada.

We are currently seeking a temporary, full time Shipping Coordinator to join us at our Brooks, facility. Clerks can be asked to do any number of duties in relation to Cattle Payables, Accounts Payable, Yields & Inventory Reporting, Invoicing, Credit Management, Claims Rebates or Exports. Clerks work in a collaborative environment with others to ensure cross-training among functions is optimized.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent language and communication skills;
  • Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures;
  • Computer proficiency, including effective working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook;
  • Experience working in SAP is required;
  • High level of critical thinking, logical thinking and analysis and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons or facts;
  • Ability to work efficiently, independently or as part of a team;
  • Perform well under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills;
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work;
  • Strong work ethic and high level of personal integrity; Confident, consistent, decisive and strong personality;
  • 2+ years administrative support experience preferred;
  • High School Diploma or GED required;
  • Post‑secondary education in a business‑related field considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate professionally with all levels of personnel via phone, e-mail and written correspondence;
  • Prepare correspondence and documents;
  • Accurately complete data entry, reporting and updating/creating spreadsheets;
  • Daily filing and administrative duties;
  • Ensure information is gathered from required sources and similar information is matched across documentation;
  • Follow approved Standard Operating Procedures and ensure internal controls are strictly complied with;
  • Solve problems independently through full analysis of situations and employing best practices;
  • Cross‑train on multiple functions within the department to increase individual and team strength.
