Job description

The Shipping and Receiving supervisor is responsible for the overall direction and coordinator of the shipping and receiving department. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the department accurately and effectively manages incoming and outgoing shipments. Position is responsible for all shipping and receiving operations at all yards.

Shift Hours: Day shift from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.

Key Accountabilities
  • Supervises and coordinates the activities related to verifying and keeping accurate records on incoming and outgoing shipments
  • Ensure that outgoing/Incoming loads are compliant with Almita procedures and policies in all yards
  • Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules
  • Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
  • Oversees loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.
  • Ensures that material handling equipment is inspected for defects. When work is needed, alerts Maintenance personnel, and creates applicable work orders.
  • Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to proper inventory locations.
  • Ensure correct entry and categorization of incoming and outgoing materials.
  • Ensure that finished goods from inventory are properly selected from the right bin location and counted for accuracy in accordance with packing slip instructions.
  • Work with other members of the shipping team to determine loading sequencing priorities for outgoing shipments.
  • Supervises the overall condition of the yards, and directs workers to make sure the yards is kept in a clean and organized manner, this include seasonal snow removal and yard clean-up
  • Keep storage yard organized by ensuring that all materials in the yard are properly stored in the correct bin locations according to the inventory yard bin location map.
  • Assists in the overall inventory/cycle counts for the yard.
Experience

The following are required:

  • 8+ year’s supervisory experience.
  • 3+ years experience in a shipping and receiving role
  • High level of computer literacy, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Windows operating system.
  • Understanding of ISO and quality assurance standards.
  • Experience with inventory and cycle counts
  • Office based with outdoor requirements.
  • Occasional exposure to loud noises
  • Occasional exposure to extreme weather
  • Fast paced with tight deadlines
  • Regular work schedule based on 40 hour work week
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn as per company policies.
