The Shipper/Receiver is responsible for the efficient handling, inspection, and documentation of incoming and outgoing shipments. This role plays a critical part in maintaining inventory accuracy, ensuring timely delivery of goods, and supporting warehouse and supply chain operations.
Responsibilities
- Understands and ensures consistent compliance with company policy, procedures and safe work practices
- Accurately pack products according to specifications ensure proper labelling for shipping
- Load and unload products from trucks, ensuring safe handling practices
- Operate warehouse equipment as required, such as forklift, pallet jacks
- Maintain organized work area
- Communicate with team members to meet daily packing/shipping deadlines
- Conduct quality checks on packed items to ensure they meet company standards
- Takes direction well, able to produce quality work with minimal supervision and as part of a team
- Completing required paperwork including outbound B/L, AWB and updating SAP
- Communicating with customers/carriers and providing a high level of customer service
- Arrange transport of goods between Company warehouses
- Assist with receiving and updating SAP
- Other duties as required within the context of the role
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ Years experience
- Experience in shipping/receiving, and/or material handling
- Hands-on experience applying Lean Manufacturing principles such as 5S, standard work, or continuous improvement initiatives
- Experience using pallet straddlers, telehandler, and/or forklift
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to reliable personal transportation
Additional Requirements
- Experience in SAP is an asset
- Forklift certification is an asset
- Willingness to obtain Transportation of Dangerous Goods certification
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Interpersonal skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities
- Sense of urgency with the ability to respond to rapidly changing priorities in a timely and efficient manner
- Ability to follow documented procedures
