We are currently seeking a Shift Supervisor to join our Boart Longyear team in North Bay, ON.

Position Summary

The Shift Supervisor will oversee the operations of a unionized high-production machine shop as per the collective agreement. The role involves assisting with payroll, maintaining the production schedule, ensuring adherence to health and safety procedures, and monitoring quality and environmental system procedures. The Shift Supervisor will also conduct monthly departmental safety and quality meetings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Production Staff: Direct and supervise the activities of production staff to achieve production targets in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Manage Operations: Oversee the processing operations during the assigned shift, ensuring work practices and procedures are followed.
  • Production Scheduling: Establish and maintain production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure all employees adhere to safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Conduct safety meetings and provide training as necessary.
  • Quality Control: Monitor compliance with ISO-9001 quality systems and any other ISO systems. Perform quality checks and recommend improvements.
  • Good Knowledge of CNC Programming/CNC/MC machine set up
Minimum Qualifications
  • Familiarity with ISO-9001 Quality System and Environmental System.
  • Must have permanent work authorization for Canada.
  • Valid Canadian Driver’s License.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a unionized setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including the midnight shift.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in business management, engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience
  • Certified Machinist
  • Experience in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of health and safety protocols and regulations.
