WestJet is seeking a Shift Lead- Aircraft Materials. This individual can demonstrate a high standard of excellence, enjoys challenges, and is results-driven. The incumbent must be highly motivated and demonstrate the ability to work in an agile environment.

As a shift lead, you will be responsible for leading a highly motivated team of Aircraft Material Coordinators to ensure the materials inventory requirements are met in an efficient and timely manner. You will have the opportunity to grow and develop the team as well as lead initiatives and projects that enable a lean and supportive working environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Inventory team and other departments to address projects, resolve issues, and ensure effective communication.
  • Coordinate team priorities, duties, and staffing requirements to ensure tasks are completed professionally and on time.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and training to Aircraft Material Coordinators, fostering development in inventory management practices aligned with WestJet policies and Transport Canada regulations.
  • Review performance and make recommendations to the Materials Manager regarding hiring and development of team members.
  • Oversee inventory accuracy by ensuring proper database entries for parts, materials, tools, and supplies, including spot checks and cycle counts.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels and ensure CMTS reflects accurate stock data.
  • Conduct regular inspections of stock and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Support Maintenance and related departments by ensuring timely provision of aircraft parts, tools, supplies, and information.
  • Actively participate in the Safety Management System, including addressing incident reports.
  • Hold regular one-on-one meetings with team members and perform other duties as assigned by the Materials Management team.
Professional Qualifications
  • Two (2) year working knowledge of aircraft materials handling, storage, and shipping procedures;
  • Display adequate knowledge of leadership principles;
  • Display adequate knowledge of industry practices and understanding of the responsibilities associated with this position;
  • Hold valid Driver’s License and Airside Drivers pass or obtain an Airport Driver's Abstract within 6 months of accepting posting;
  • Ability to obtain a Restricted Airside Identity Card (RAIC) within 6 months of accepting posting;
  • Hold valid Dangerous Goods Certification or obtain within 6 months of accepting position;
  • Completion of Forklift Operation training or obtain within 6 months of accepting position.
