Job summary

The Salvation Army Vancouver Harbour Light in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside is seeking a Shelter Worker to support the emergency shelter with intake, observation, and coordination of client care. This role operates on awake shifts within a 24/7 facility.

You will liaise with Case Workers, document daily activities, and apply trauma-informed practice and harm reduction to help clients access services. Naloxone training and safety procedures are part of the responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum three months of experience working with the homeless in a social services setting.
• Willingness to develop understanding and support for The Salvation Army's mission.
• Criminal Record Check clearance required.
• Able to work in a 24/7 shelter and adapt to a busy environment.

Responsibilities

The Shelter Worker may liaise with the Shelters Case Workers to carry out a variety of duties related to supporting clients while at the emergency shelter. This position is team oriented.
