Allied Universal is seeking Shelter Security Guard in Brampton, Ontario.

Job Title: Shelter Security Guard

Location: Brampton, ON

Type: Full Time

Pay Rate: $18.15 per hour

Shifts: 2000 - 0800 Continental

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Shelter Security Guard to join our team at a shelter. Prior experience working in shelter is an asset. This role is crucial to ensuring the safety and well‑being of our residents, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will have a strong presence, the ability to handle stressful situations, and an unwavering commitment to maintaining a secure environment.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor Facility Access: Control access to the shelter, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed entry. Check identification and maintain logs as necessary.
  • Conflict Resolution: Address and de‑escalate any disputes or conflicts between residents, guests, or staff. Act calmly and professionally in stressful situations while maintaining order.
  • Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergencies (medical, fire, security, etc.), and assist in evacuations if needed. Follow proper protocols for emergency situations.
  • Safety & Security: Conduct regular patrols of the building and surrounding areas to ensure safety and prevent incidents of theft, vandalism, or other criminal activities. Secure doors and windows after hours.
  • Incident Reporting: Document any incidents, violations, or disturbances, and complete incident reports in a clear and timely manner. Communicate effectively with supervisors and staff regarding any issues.
  • Maintain Presence: Provide a visible and authoritative presence within the shelter to deter negative behaviors, ensuring a calm and safe atmosphere for all individuals present.
  • Collaboration with Shelter Staff: Work closely with shelter management and staff to implement security protocols, and provide support for residents in need of additional assistance.
Requirements
  • 1-2 years of experience working in security, preferably shelter location.
  • Must have a valid Ontario Security License.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent/GED or equivalent work experience.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada up to 40 hours a week.
  • First Aid and CPR.
