Job summary

A-1 HVAC Inc is seeking a Sheet Metal Journeyman / Foreman for a full-time, on-site role in Calgary, AB. You will install, fabricate, and repair sheet metal ductwork and HVAC components, interpreting blueprints and coordinating materials while supervising a crew to ensure safe, on-time, and quality work.

Responsibilities include directing tasks, communicating with project managers and trades, and performing hands-on installation and layout work. Strong OH&S knowledge and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Supervisory and communication abilities to lead crews and report progress.
• Experience operating heavy HVAC and sheet metal installation equipment.
• Carpentry and general construction skills to support layout and integration of ductwork.
• Maintenance skills for HVAC and sheet metal systems.
• Recognized Sheet Metal Journeyperson certification or equivalent.
• Understanding of drawings, codes and safety rules (OH&S).
• Ability to work safely on ladders, lifts and in varied site conditions.

Role Description

The Sheet Metal Journeyman / Foreman is a full-time, on-site role based in Calgary, AB. This position is responsible for installing, fabricating, and repairing sheet metal ductwork and HVAC components according to specifications and codes. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting blueprints, coordinating materials and equipment, assigning tasks to crew members, and ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to quality standards. The role involves supervising and mentoring team members, communicating with project managers and other trades, and performing hands-on installation and layout work. The foreperson also monitors site safety, conducts inspections, and supports ongoing maintenance and repair activities as required.

Qualifications

• Supervisory Skills and strong Communication abilities to lead crews, coordinate with other trades, and report progress to management.
• Experience operating Heavy Equipment and related tools commonly used in HVAC and sheet metal installation.
• Carpentry and general construction skills to support layout, framing, and integration of ductwork and HVAC systems.
• Maintenance skills for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining HVAC and sheet metal systems.
• Recognized Sheet Metal Journeyperson certification or equivalent experience in commercial HVAC installations. Strong Apprentice applications will be considered
• Solid understanding of mechanical drawings, building codes, and safety regulations (including OH&S requirements).
• Ability to work safely on ladders, lifts, and in various site conditions, with good physical stamina.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites in and around Calgary, AB.
• Previous experience as a foreperson or lead hand on commercial HVAC or construction projects is an asset.
