SharePoint Specialist (2016 Migration Project)
Location and Duration
Primary Location: REMOTE.
Work Environment: Must be able to work effectively from within Canada, with a reliable network and data security setup.
Engagement Period: 18 months, 6 month initial contract with an option for 12 month extension and future extensions expected
Standard Schedule: 08:15 – 16:30 Alberta time (Mountain Time Zone), Monday through Friday, excluding provincial holidays.
Work Week: 36.25 Hours (The expectation is 7.25 hours/day, but hours may be approved up to 8.00 hours/day at the discretion of the Hiring Manager.)
Opportunity Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced SharePoint Specialist to lead and execute a significant SharePoint 2016 Migration Project. The successful candidate will be a technical expert responsible for all aspects of the migration, from planning and design to development, testing, and deployment. This is a critical role focusing on the secure and successful transition of information across systems.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement strategic upgrades of SharePoint environments.
Lead the migration of content, data, and applications from on-premises SharePoint 2016 to SharePoint Online (SPO).
Develop robust migration plans, including all pre-requisites, assets, risks, and change requests.
Develop and implement solutions using Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI).
Conduct business analysis, design, configuration, and maintenance of sites, site collections, and SharePoint applications.
Design user interface and workflows to enhance user experience.
Perform content management, governance, and security implementation.
Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support to end-users and extended teams.
Develop, configure, and maintain technical training documentation.
Mandatory Experience & Skills
Candidates must clearly demonstrate 7 years of relevant, hands-on experience in the following areas:
SharePoint Migration: Leading and executing content/data/application migration projects, particularly from on-premises to SharePoint Online (SPO).
Power Platform Development: Developing, configuring, and maintaining solutions using the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI).
Core SharePoint Expertise: Extensive experience with SharePoint site collection architecture, site administration, security, and governance.
Troubleshooting: Advanced troubleshooting of complex SharePoint forms and workflows (all types).
Integrated Systems: Experience designing and developing integrated systems with technical design specifications on complex engagements involving enterprise content management.
Content Management: Experience with SharePoint content including managed metadata, workflows, forms, and user interface customization.
Administrative Experience: Working knowledge of Central Administration on a SharePoint environment.
Working Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of experience working within the Government's Information Technology/Information Management policies and standards.
A minimum of 2 years of experience upgrading Microsoft SharePoint environments (e.g., 2013 to 2016, 2016 to Online).
Educational Requirements
Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
A University degree in computer science or a related discipline and 4 years of relevant experience.
A 2-year diploma in computer science or a related discipline and 6 years of relevant experience.
A 1-year certificate in computer science or a related discipline and 7 years of relevant experience.
A currently active professional certification or accreditation and 8 years of relevant experience.
Highly Desired (Nice-to-Have) Skills
Active Microsoft certifications (e.g., Power Platform App Maker Associate, Power Apps Developer Associate).
