Job summary

Novolex is hiring a Set up Technician – Level 1 at our 391 Thermoforming Plant in the Brampton area. The role involves assisting set up technicians, performing machine/tool setups on thermoforming equipment, and supporting continuous improvement projects.

Rate is $24/hr and a 12-hour continental shift with bi-monthly rotation. Qualified candidates will have mechanical/technical training or experience, ability to read measuring tools, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Technical school course in mechanical technology or related field.
• Basic mechanical aptitude required.
• Able to use measuring instruments (Vernier caliper, micrometer).
• Knowledge of plastic molds preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist higher level set up technicians with machine and tool setups on thermoforming machines.
• Support continuous improvement projects.
• Prepare tools for production as needed.
• Perform process troubleshooting of thermoforming machines and related systems.
• Support sample making activities.
• Perform product qualification to ensure conformance with quality standards.
• Follow lockout/tag out procedures.
• Maintain 5S and housekeeping in work area.
• Adhere to GMP and safety policies.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Job Description

Set up Technician – Level 1

Position available at 391 Thermoforming Plant

Rate: $24/hr

Principal Job Duties

• Assist higher level set up technicians in performing machine and tool setups on thermoforming machines and associated equipment.
• Support continuous improvement projects.
• Prepare tools for production when required.
• Perform process troubleshooting of the thermoforming machines and all related systems.
• Support sample making activities.
• Perform product qualification process to ensure conformance with prescribed quality standards.
• Diligently follow lockout / tag out procedures.
• Maintain proper housekeeping and 5S in own work area and around work units.
• Perform all work in a safe manner and fully comply with the Safety and Quality (GMP) policies and procedures of the Company.
• Any other duties as assigned by the Management.

Job Requirements

• Good understanding of mechanical and control functions of machines
• Technical school course (Mechanical technology) / Junior Millwright or 1-2 years of work experience in thermoforming / plastics processing
• Basic mechanical aptitude is required.
• Lift and move product / parts / boxes when required.
• Able to use different measuring instruments like Vernier Caliper and Micrometer
• Knowledge of plastic molds preferred (handling and maintenance)
• Able to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written)
• Able to work in a 12-hour continental shift with bi-monthly rotation.
