Description:
This is the third architecture design studio in the Master of Architecture program, the third studio in the MLA program, and the first in the Urban Design Program. Its name Superstudio derives from the fact that the studio seeks to integrate the design of architecture, the city, and landscape architecture into a single design effort and studio curriculum. It takes the future form of the city of Toronto as its subject. Through the design of an urban project situated in Toronto, students are asked to speculate about the forms of urbanity that the city’s future development might conceivably foster or sustain. To do this students are asked to speculate on this future city’s architecture, urbanism, and landscape architecture.

Monday 9:00am - 1:00pm
Monday 2:00pm - 6:00pm
Thursday 2:00pm - 6:00pm
Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023
Estimate of the course enrolment: Approximately 12 students per section
Salary: Sessional Lecturer I - $18,915.79; Sessional Lecturer I Long Term - $19,861.58; Sessional Lecturer II - $20,243.53; Sessional Lecturer II Long Term - $20,653.23; Sessional Lecturer III - $20,725.52; Sessional Lecturer III Long Term - $21,140.03 (inclusive of vacation pay)
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Minimum Qualifications: M.Arch degree or another Graduate degree in Architecture preferred. We are seeking applicants with a proven record of teaching foundation design studios at the M. Arch and/or B.A/B.Arch level.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of contemporary architectural pedagogy and the current state of the discipline, at both practical and theoretical levels, is highly desirable.
Description of Duties: Attending meetings required by studio coordinator; p reparation and delivery of course material; managing digital teaching materials, supervision of teaching assistants; preparation and delivery of assignments, tests, final examinations, and deferred final examinations; marking of student work, submission of grades, dealing with student enquiries, appeals and petitions, and student contact hours.
This job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12 of the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement.
