Sessional Lecturer - FSL206H5S Functional French-Low Intermediate II

Job posting: This position is Sessional Lecturer – FSL206H5S Functional French-Low Intermediate II, posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement.

Course Description

This course focuses on nuancing acquired written and oral communication skills and on further developing students’ fluency and accuracy through the production and understanding of complex sentences, refined forms and idiomatic expressions, and the further development of discourse‑oriented abilities to create meaning.

Class Schedule

Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm. The mode of instruction is expected to be in‑person; any changes will be communicated with sufficient advance notice.

Sessional Dates

January 1, 2026 to April 30, 2026.

Qualifications
  • Graduate‑level degree in French Studies.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching university‑level French‑as‑a‑second‑language courses.
  • Near‑native competence in spoken and written French.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching this course or a closely related university‑level course (preferred).
  • Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12.
Responsibilities
  • Design and teach a University credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content.
  • Provide out‑of‑class interactions with students via e‑mail and office hours.
  • Develop, administer, and mark assignments, tests, and exams; calculate and submit grades.
  • Order all necessary readings.
  • Supervise any teaching assistants assigned to the course.
