Sessional Lecturer - EDS345H5S Design Thinking Incubator

Job Posting Sessional Lecturer - EDS345H5S Design Thinking Incubator This job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement.

Course number and title: EDS345H5S Design Thinking Incubator

This course is open to all students on campus and provides an intellectual toolset for finding innovative solutions to complex problems. Students will learn to apply education theory to design thinking models in order to identify and solve real‑world challenges facing their chosen discipline, whether in business, education, healthcare, etc. An iterative approach for testing, refining, and improving their idea will be used to create a working prototype of their proposed solution. This will demonstrate the idea’s sustainability, scalability and viability, while taking into account ethical and legal implications.

NOTE: The mode of instruction for this course is expected to be in‑person. However, if this changes for any reason, you will be provided with as much advance notice as practicable.

Sessional dates of appointment: January 1, 2026 to April 30, 2026

Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in Education with expertise in design thinking.

Demonstrated current knowledge of teaching and pedagogy and its application is required.

Demonstrated experience with design thinking project oversight and instruction, and experience using new technologies in design thinking contexts.

Preferred qualifications
  • Experience teaching this course, or a similar course at the university level is preferred.
  • Prior experience supporting equity focused design thinking projects is preferred.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II and Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12.

Description of duties

All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a University credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; out‑of‑class interactions with students via e‑mail and office hours; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; ordering all necessary readings; supervising TAs (if any) assigned to the course.
