Course description: This lecture course will ask students to engage with classic and contemporary view on power and its relation to the social bases of politics and social mvements?

Estimated course enrolment: 50

Estimated TA support: 100 hours (subject to enrolment)

Class schedule (Lectures): Thursdays 11am - 1pm

Sessional dates of appointment: January 1 - April 30, 2026

Salary: Minimum stipend $9,820.70 for a Half course (inclusive of vacation pay)

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Minimum qualification:

Candidates must have at least an PhD in Sociology or equivalent as demonstrated by referred/published research, strong academic record, previous experience teaching a similar course, and evidence of teaching excellence in the subject covered in the course are preferred.

Description of duties: All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours; supervising TA’s assigned to course; order all necessary readings.
