A major educational institution is seeking a Teaching Assistant for the Colour and the Moving Image course. Responsibilities include conducting tutorials, grading, and maintaining office hours. Course number and title: CIN309H5 Colour and the Moving Image
Topic description: Considering philosophical, scientific, and historical discourses about colour, this course explores a variety of ways of analyzing colour style in film and video art. As we begin to come to terms with the perceptual instability of colour as a positive phenomenon, we will consider how and why dominant histories of film style have been written, especially as the taming of colour has been central to an ongoing categorical distinction between narrative cinema and the avant‑garde, morality and hedonism.
Estimated course enrolment: 100
Estimated TA support: 50 hours (TA grader position)
Class schedule: Monday lecture 9:00–11:00, Screening, Tuesday 12:00–15:00
Sessional dates of appointment: January 5 – April 6, 2026
Salary: $54.27 per hour + 4% vacation pay
Minimum qualifications: Graduate degree in Cinema Studies is preferred. Previous TA experience in a CIN course will be preferred.
Description of duties: Conducting tutorials & maintaining scheduled office hours, student and course instructor contact, grading, invigilating, and other clerical duties.
