Job summary

ML Northern seeks a Serviceperson to join our remote mining site team in the Fort McMurray area. The role offers a combined rate up to $56.15/hour, with room for growth, and includes a 14x7 schedule with 12-hour shifts.

Site access includes Suncor, Syncrude, and Kearl, with camp lodging possible and flights to Edmonton/Calgary for select sites. Responsibilities include fueling and lubricating heavy equipment, assisting with PM/lube services, daily servicing, and safety compliance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a serviceperson role.
  • Oil sands experience preferred.
  • Class 3 Driver’s License with Air Brake Endorsement.
  • Able to operate manual 18 speed transmission.
  • Self-starter with safety mindset.
  • English proficiency required (written and verbal).
  • Experience operating heavy equipment (forklift/bobcat/loader) is an asset.
  • AWP certification and Fall Arrest certification are assets.

Responsibilities

  • Fuel and lubricate heavy equipment in the field.
  • Assist PM/lube services at Lube Islands and in field.
  • Daily fueling and servicing of equipment at the Lube Islands.
  • Service and fuel large loading equipment in the mine.
  • Assist maintenance with lube extraction/refilling during repairs.
  • Follow safety policies and use PPE at all times.
  • Report repairs and incidents to supervisors promptly.

Position Scope

ML Northern is seeking a Serviceperson to join our remote mining site team in the Fort McMurray area.

For this role, ML Northern offers a combined rate of up to $56.15/hour as well as room for growth!

Where You’ll Be Working

  • Site: The successful candidates could work on any of one of our current sites: Suncor, Syncrude and Kearl.
  • Schedule: 14 x 7, 12-hour days (Paid for 12 hours) (14 Days, 7 off, 14 nights, 7 off)
  • Accommodations: Camp accommodations are a possibility but not a guarantee.
  • Transportation: Flights may be provided to and from Edmonton or Calgary (when going to select sites). Bussing provided from Fort McMurray to site (before and after shift).
  • Overtime: Provided after 8 hours in a day or 44 hours in a week.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Fueling/lubricating heavy equipment in the field
  • Assist with PM/lube services at Lube Islands and in the field (oil and filter changes)
  • Daily fueling and shift servicing of equipment at the Lube Islands
  • Daily servicing/fueling of the large loading equipment in the mine
  • Assisting maintenance with lube extraction/refilling during repairs
  • Very physically demanding position working in adverse condition
  • Ensure compliance to all company, client and legislated safety policies, operating standards and procedures
  • Using adequate and suitable safety equipment, including PPE
  • Reviewing safe work plans/ hazard assessment with prior to job commencement and follow all requirements
  • Complete equipment/ area walk-arounds, safety checks and field level risk assessments and ensure all equipment is running properly
  • Report any necessary or anticipated repairs to the maintenance team or supervisors immediately
  • Report all incidents, near misses or damage immediately
Qualifications

What Makes You the ONE

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a serviceperson role required
  • Previous experience in the oil sands required
  • Have a valid Class 3 Driver’s License with Air Brake Endorsement
  • Must be able to operate a manual 18 speed transmission
  • Preference will be given to candidates with related experience
  • Must be a self-starter
  • Experience operating forklift, bobcat and loader would be an asset
  • Aerial Work Platform (AWP) and Fall Arrest Certification would be an asset
  • Access to Suncor, Syncrude and Syncrude Aurora & Kearl
  • A safety-first attitude
  • Attentive and possess strong listening skills
  • High school diploma, GED, and/or post-secondary education is considered an asset.
  • Be proficient in English, both verbally and written
  • CSO, Silica Awareness, OHS Alberta Legislation Awareness, H2S Awareness, Wood Buffalo Wildlife Awareness & Field Ergonomics Certification
