Job summary

Alberta Health Services seeks a Service Worker I to support Adults and Stollery in a busy tertiary Emergency. You will transport patients and equipment across hospital areas, replenish supplies, and clean equipment as directed. Minimum requires Grade 12, current BLS with AED Level C, and one year porter experience. English proficiency and ability to meet physical demands are essential.

Qualifications

The attendant is an integral member of the health care team, supporting Adults and Stollery in a family centered care within a busy tertiary Emergency.

Description

As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Additional Required Qualifications

Current Basic Life Support (BLS - Heart and Stroke AED Level C REQUIRED) - Healthcare Provider Registration (must attach certificate). One year experience as a porter/attendant required. English language comprehension, both oral and written is required. Ability to meet the physical demands associated with the job i.e. pushing stretchers, carts, wheelchairs, and bending, reaching, is required. Completion of Medical Terminology required.

Ability to work in a team environment is essential. Self-motivated individual able to prioritize and organize workload, in a busy patient care environment.
