Job summary

Brandt Tractor Ltd is seeking a Field Service Technician at our Saskatoon Peterbilt location to perform diagnostics, service maintenance and repairs on customer equipment in a field environment. You will diagnose mechanical, electrical and aftertreatment systems, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure quality service with minimal downtime.

You will be responsible for maintaining current product knowledge, following safety rules, and mentoring apprentices while working under the Service

Qualifications

  • 3 years of relevant field service experience.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and aftertreatment systems.
  • Solid computer and technical aptitude with knowledge of Davie 4, Insite, and Bendix.
  • Strong diagnostic skills to identify repair needs.
  • Strong time management skills to work unsupervised.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to high-quality customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic to complex diagnostics on a variety of on-highway equipment to identify repair needs and minimize downtime.
  • Diagnose and repair engine, electrical, aftertreatment, and drivetrain components.
  • Disassemble, assemble, and repair mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
  • Perform preventative maintenance such as fluid and filter changes, battery testing, brake adjustments, and lubrication.
  • Execute advanced mechanical repairs, including engine and transmission diagnosis, repair, or replacement.
  • Maintain current product knowledge specific to equipment and industry standards.
  • Keep a clean, neat, and orderly work area; follow OH&S standards.
  • Ensure proper procedures for hazardous waste disposal.
  • Work within guidelines set by managers to ensure quality service delivery.
  • Perform all service tasks assigned by the Service Manager or Service Department Foreman.
  • Participate in required training programs and maintain departmental tools and vehicles.
  • Mentor apprentices to support their professional growth.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Brandt Tractor Ltd is currently seeking a Field Service Technician for our Saskatoon Peterbilt location.

The Field Service Technician is responsible for independently performing basic to complex diagnostics, service maintenance and repair work on customer equipment efficiently in a field environment, which could include customer shops. They are also responsible for providing quality service to customers and ensuring all issues are resolved satisfactorily and in a timely manner.

What You Will Be Responsible For

Diagnostic and Repair Services

  • Perform basic to complex diagnostics on a variety of on-highway equipment to accurately identify repair needs and minimize downtime.
  • Diagnose and repair all engine, electrical, aftertreatment, and drivetrain components to restore optimal performance .
  • Diagnose, disassemble, assemble, and repair mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems to restore optimal equipment performance.
  • Conduct customer, manufacturer, and government-mandated inspections to ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks such as fluid and filter changes, battery testing, brake system adjustments, and lubrication to prolong equipment life.
  • Execute advanced mechanical repairs, including engine and transmission diagnosis, repair, or replacement, to resolve complex issues.

Work Systems and Procedures

  • Maintain current product knowledge specific to equipment and industry standards relevant to the branch location.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area to ensure efficiency and safety.
  • Follow all safety rules and Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) standards.
  • Ensure compliance with proper procedures for hazardous waste disposal.
  • Work within guidelines set by managers to ensure consistent and quality service delivery.
  • Perform all service tasks assigned by the Service Manager or Service Department Foreman.
  • Participate in required training programs, including industry-specific technology training.
  • Maintain and care for departmental tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Mentor and oversee apprentices to support their professional growth.

Other duties as assigned.
