Jim Pattison Toyota Northshore, part of the Jim Pattison Auto Group, invites a skilled Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles to high safety and reliability standards. You will document findings, communicate with advisors, and support warranty processes.

Introduction

The Jim Pattison Auto Group has an exciting opportunity for a Service Technician to join our Jim Pattison Toyota Northshore dealership. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting our Service Department by accurately diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles to the highest standards of safety, performance, and reliability.

Schedule

This is a full-time, permanent role of 40 hours per week. Including Saturday rotations.

Pay Range

$39.75 to $45.25 per hour flat rate, based on certification and experience

This role reports to the Service Manager of the dealership.

What You'll Do

In this position, you will:

• Complete scheduled maintenance, mechanical repairs, and diagnostic work in accordance with Toyota and dealership standards.
• Inspect vehicles thoroughly and document required repairs, measurements, and findings.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and drivability concerns and determine appropriate repair procedures.
• Communicate diagnostic findings and recommended repairs to Service Advisors and other members of the Service team.
• Work with Service Advisors to provide accurate information regarding repair requirements and anticipated completion times.
• Complete road tests and pre-delivery inspections to verify vehicle condition and repair quality.
• Work closely with the Parts Department to obtain required components and properly handle warranty-related labeling and documentation.
• Support other technicians and contribute to maintaining an efficient workflow throughout the shop.
• Keep your work area, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and safe.
• Follow dealership policies, manufacturer procedures, and applicable workplace health and safety requirements.
• Protect confidential customer and company information.
• Contribute to a respectful, cooperative, and productive team environment.

What You Bring

The successful candidate will have:

• Red Seal Automotive Service Technician certification, or be actively working toward challenging the Red Seal examination.
• Previous professional experience working as an Automotive Service Technician.
• A valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence and satisfactory Driver's Abstract.
• The ability to confidently drive both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
• Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and mechanical problem-solving abilities.
• Careful attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
• The ability to organize multiple repair priorities in a busy Service Department.
• A calm and solutions-focused approach when working under time pressure.
• The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team.
• Dependability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work the physical requirements of a service technician role
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 60 pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • High level of mobility, dexterity, endurance, and sensory awareness
• Ability to work in an automotive shop environment
  • Indoor automotive shop with multiple service bays
  • Exposure to noise (engines, air tools), fumes (exhaust, solvents), and dust
  • Work performed around moving vehicles, hoists, and heavy equipment
  • Temperature can vary (shops may be cooler in winter, warmer in summer despite heating/ventilation)
