The Service Technician provides on-site and in-house technical service for Draeger Safety products including gas detection, respiratory equipment, etc., ensuring prompt and effective solutions to customer equipment problems. This is a hybrid position. The person must be local to Draeger's Sudbury Service Center and also travel 2 weeks per month throughout Northern Ontario.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide system start up and commissioning as well as operational training for new installations and instruments; schedule and perform routine periodic manufacturer’s certification; evaluate, diagnose and repair malfunctioning equipment in response to service requests. All in accordance with the Draeger service procedures and policies, and the industry standards.
  • Use company supplied laptop to access service orders and customer information; document service work performance; extract equipment documentation and diagnostic information; place inventory and parts orders, and perform other electronic data communications and transfers as may be directed or required to effectively perform their job responsibilities.
  • Manage service paperwork and database to ensure records are current to provide customers with appropriate service reports in a timely fashion and to maintain proper equipment history to drive high impact services to Draeger customers.
  • Provide technical phone support to customers, Draeger sales personnel, Draeger distributors/partners, and Authorized Service Providers.
  • Promote customer satisfaction through proactive, professional communication with the Customer.
Education

Associate Degree or Diploma in Electronics, related discipline or equivalent combination of education & training that provides the required knowledge and skills.

Related Experience
  • Electronics background, with a medium-high mechanical aptitude.
  • Previous work experience with electronics, mechanics, pneumatics, and software; repairs, maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting.
  • Willing to travel 1 to 2 weeks per month.
  • 1-3 years of Customer Service experience preferably in a similar field.
  • Computer networking experience is an asset.
  • Training or supervisory experience is an asset.
Special Competencies/Certifications
  • A valid driver’s license and good driving record are required.
  • Valid international travel documents.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with a customer focus and effective communication skills.
  • Proficient computer and software skills (MS Office and other).
  • Bilingual (French) is an asset.
Working Environment/Conditions
  • This is deemed to be a Safety Sensitive position, where performance limitations (due to substance use, for example) could result in an incident or situation with the potential for high consequences. Therefore, you may be subject to post-employment drug or alcohol screenings, for example, prior to performing work at customer sites.
  • Position requires some local travel. Out of province travel might be required, as well as international travel for training purposes.
  • Job may require lifting and/or handling objects of up to 50lb, as well as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Availability outside of normal working hours to provide emergency service.
