Job description

We Don’t Just Hire People - We Build Teammates.

Hudson is a different kind of security, doors, automation, and locksmithing company.

We’re part construction, part tech, part problem-solvers, part “MacGyver meets Mythbusters,” and part “laugh until someone snorts.”

We protect people, property, and livelihoods - and we never forget the responsibility that comes with that.

But we also celebrate National Pretzel Day.

We run rock-paper-scissors tournaments for a 5-pound chocolate bunny.

We roast each other’s inner nerds (lovingly), and we take pride in the fact that Hudson laughs together - a lot.

If that sounds like your kind of place… keep reading.

Who We Are (All Under One Roof):

Hudson Entry & Automation brings together three powerful service areas inside one unified operating company:

Security & Access Systems
  • Access control, cameras, alarms, automated door operators, telephone entry, physical/electronic security systems, and gate control.
Perimeter & Gate Automation
  • Cantilever sliding and swing gates, barrier gates, bi-folding gate systems, parking access and revenue control, automated door operators, wiring, fencing, and specialty automation projects.
Commercial Doors & Hardware
  • Overhead doors, dock levellers, hollow-metal and steel doors, commercial hardware, closers, locksmithing, restricted key systems, master keying, and life-safety hardware.
  • Different crafts, same mission:

Build a team with heart, humour, humility, grit - and exceptional skill.

The Hudson Technical Career Ladder

At Hudson, your career grows with you. We don’t do dead-end positions.

Every field role falls into one of our five technical levels:

Junior Technician
  • Learning, observing, improving. Hungry and dependable.
Technician
  • Capable, confident, independent on smaller tasks, reliable backup on big ones.
Lead Technician
  • Takes ownership of jobs, mentors others, and runs small teams.
Senior Lead Technician
  • Top performer. Trusted with complex, custom, or high-stakes projects. Helps shape standards.
Technical Operations & Sales (Inside Role):

A highly respected next step for Senior Leads who want to:

  • Mentor and coach both field and office staff.
  • Work directly with clients.
  • Support project planning and quoting.
  • Strengthen the company with their experience.
  • Help build internal training and systems.

It’s a role built for leaders who want to grow their impact beyond the field.

Not Everyone Stays in One Lane - And That’s a Good Thing:
  • Some technicians discover they love working with customers.
  • Some get hooked on project planning.
  • Some become absolute wizards with AI tools or digital workflows.
At Hudson, you can transition into:
  • Project Management.
  • Sales & Estimation.
  • Service Coordination.
  • Business Operations.
  • Internal Training & Systems Development.
  • AI-enabled tools and knowledge management.

We’re not a company that says, “Stay in your lane.”

We’re a company that asks, “Where do you shine?”

Who Thrives at Hudson (And Who… Doesn’t)

This is where we break the mould.

You will thrive here if you:
  • Have a good sense of humour.
  • Can laugh at yourself.
  • Can lead one day and assist the next.
  • Appreciate a team where everyone takes a turn leading.
  • Are humble, competent, caring.
  • Love learning and want to grow.
  • Can say “I messed up,” “I was wrong,” and “I’m sorry”
  • Enjoy cross-training and sharing knowledge.
  • Have a growth mindset, hate stagnation, and despise “we’ve always done it that way” thinking.
  • Enjoy working alone sometimes and in small 2-3 person teams other times.
  • Want a career where the work matters.
You will NOT thrive here if you:
  • Are arrogant.
  • Are disrespectful.
  • Are unteachable.
  • Are a jerk.
  • We say it clearly:
  • No jerks. No exceptions.
The Hudson Work Style:
  • 80% field work 20% reporting, notes, photos, digital documentation Lots of teamwork (pairs or small groups) Fast learning and constant improvement
  • The work is physical, challenging, meaningful - and never boring.
  • You’ll install, fix, wire, troubleshoot, test, bend conduit, align hardware, solve problems, and occasionally become the hero of someone’s day.
  • And you’ll laugh. A lot.
Smarter, Not Harder - Technology at Hudson.
  • A cloud-based field management system.
  • A Hudson-issued smartphone.
  • Digital work orders, schedules & drawings.
  • An internal AI-powered intranet.
  • Tools and systems built by Hudson’s own AI specialists.
  • Video-based training and knowledge modules.
  • Modern internal communication channels.
  • We innovate constantly - because trades deserve better tools.
The Cool Stuff We Get to Do:
  • Because of our long-standing reputation in perimeter security and our strong partner relationships with other contractors, we land projects that others won’t touch:
  • Complex automation.
  • Remote locations.
  • High-security facilities.
  • One-off engineering challenges.
  • Jobs too custom for “cookie-cutter” companies.
This means real opportunities to travel to:
  • Yellowknife.
  • Ottawa.
  • Wawa.
  • Newfoundland.
  • Nova Scotia.
  • Alberta.
  • British Columbia.
  • We embrace the weird, the custom, the difficult and we love the challenge.
What Hudson Offers:

Competitive hourly pay ($24-$35/hr depending on role) Overtime + bonus opportunities Medical, dental, vision, life & disability benefits Company vehicle & tools (for field roles) Paid time off Quarterly reviews + real career growth Company events Store discounts On-site parking A team with heart, humour & drive.

“We Might Not Need Someone This Minute… But We’re Always Hiring All-Stars”

If you’re the right person - humble, hungry, hardworking, honest, and hilarious - we will make room for you.

We hire based on:
  • Values.
  • Attitude.
  • Character.
  • Potential.
  • Team fit.
  • Skills we can teach.
  • Values we can’t.
