Job summary

Bria Communities’ Sunridge Gardens in Langley is seeking a dining room/server associate to deliver exceptional service to our senior residents. You will join a team providing full-service dining in the dining rooms and lounges, ensuring warmth, hospitality, and attention to detail.

The role requires 1 year of hotel/restaurant experience, 1 year serving or catering experience, and certifications (Food Safe Level 1, Serving It Right).

Qualifications

  • Must have strong interpersonal relations with residents, guests, volunteers and staff.
  • Excellent customer service mindset focused on seniors’ comfort and dignity.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English in a busy dining room.
  • Physical fitness to lift up to 50 lbs and perform service duties.
  • Must work well in a team and also independently.
  • Strong organizational skills to coordinate service and cleanliness.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a team to provide a relaxed, enjoyable dining experience for residents and to deliver exemplary customer service in the dining room and lounges.
  • Welcome each resident or guest with friendliness and an eagerness to serve and anticipate needs.
  • Commit to learning each menu item’s story and sourcing details to share with diners.
  • Plate dishes to Chef’s requirements and serve at the correct temperature and accommodate requests.
  • Execute full-service dining, including preparation, presentation, and service of food, beverages and accompaniments.
  • Carry out cleaning and sanitization duties and routines, including setting and clearing tables and equipment.
  • Ensure service areas and servery are clean and tidy.
  • Clear, scrape, stack and wash dishes and return them to storage as required.
  • Clean spills and maintain floors in dining and lounge areas.

Shifts: 4 on 2 off, 10:30 am to 7:00 pm
Education & Experience

Minimum 1 year of experience in a hotel, restaurant, or equivalent.

Minimum 1 year serving or catering experience, or a combination of a great attitude with an eagerness to learn

Food Safe Level 1 Certificate is required

Key Accountabilities

Work as a team to provide a relaxed, enjoyable dining experience for our residents and to deliver exemplary customer service in the dining room and lounges.

Welcome each resident or guest with friendliness and an eagerness to serve. Attentive to the residents and guests in the dining room, anticipating their needs and responding in a timely manner

Committed to learning the special qualities of each menu item, including where the food was sourced, and the story behind it, in order to share that story with the diners.

Plating each dish to the Chef's requirements, ensuring it is served at the correct temperature and honours diners' requests and preferences.

Execute full-service dining, including the preparation, presentation, and service of food, beverages, and accompaniments in the dining room and lounges.

Carry out general cleaning and sanitization duties and routines, including setting and cleaning of tables, chairs and other equipment.

Ensure that all service and servery areas are kept clean and tidy.

Clear, scrape, stacking and wash dishes, and when required, return them to the correct storage areas.

Carry out general cleaning of spills and food on the flooring in the dining and lounge areas as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must have the ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relations by displaying tact, courtesy and patience with residents, guests, volunteers and employees.

Physical and mental fitness to perform all assigned duties, including lifting up to 50 lbs

Must be organized and have the ability to work in a busy environment, seamlessly coordinating with other servers to meet the needs of the dining room.

Must be able to work independently and within a team, to meet resident needs.

Must have the ability to communicate effectively and be able to speak and understand English competently.

Ability to safely and efficiently operate all equipment associated with the position.
