Job summary

Cogir Senior Living in Burlington, Canada, is hiring a Server to work in our bright, welcoming dining room. You will assist with set-up, serving, and cleanup as part of our dining services within a retirement residence.

Preference given to those with food service experience and a passion for working with seniors. Must be able to lift, stand for long periods, and may require a VPS. We value exceptional customer service and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Experience in food service and with seniors preferred.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand/walk for majority of shift.
• VPS/Screening within 6 months or willing to obtain on hire.

Responsibilities

• To serve meals to residents and guests in a professional and courteous manner;
• To set and clear dining tables and deliver tray service as required;
• To assist with cleaning of dishware, cutlery after each dining service;
• To assist with maintaining the cleanliness of kitchen and dining area;
• To assist with catering, and actively participate in special occasions and theme events;
• To assist in the orientation and training of new culinary employees;
• To follow health and safety legislation and department safe job procedures;
• To comply with provincial regulations and department policies;
• To promote Resident Rights & Responsibilities;
• To attend in-service training to better serve residents;
• To attend staff meetings to be aware of changes;
• To participate in Quality Improvement Program;
• To uphold and promote the organization's values and Code of Conduct;
• To complete all other tasks as assigned.

Required Education, Credentials and Experience

• Preference will be given to individuals who have previous experience in the food service industry and working with seniors
• Demonstrates excellent customer service skills
• Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand/walk for majority of shift
• Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
• Current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening (VPS) or be willing to obtain one upon hire.
