Job summary

Sienna Senior Living’s Aspira Lynde Creek Retirement Living in Whitby is seeking a casual dining server for weekend shifts. You will deliver hospitality-style dining, assist with food prep under the chef, and maintain cleanliness in line with health standards.

Requirements include Smart Serve or Serve It Right, one year of dining room service experience, and strong English communication. Benefits include competitive pay, health and dental, and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must have Smart Serve or Serve It Right designation and one year dining room experience.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Safe Food Handling Certification preferred.
• Experience working with seniors is an asset.
• Clear verbal and written English communication.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for hospitality style dining service using the Ready, Set, Serve program.
• Assists with the preparation and presentation of food under the Chef's direction.
• Maintains cleanliness and sanitation standards in all areas of food prep and service.
• Promotes and tracks a la carte and wine service sales.
• Follows provincial regulations and department policies to keep the area tour ready.
• Participates in drills and education sessions on emergency preparedness.
• Adheres to Health and Safety policies and Occupational Health and Safety Act.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Responsible for all aspects of hospitality style dining service utilizing the Ready, Set, Serve Program as it applies to the serving areas, setting, serving and cleaning tables;
• Assists with the preparation and presentation of food under the direction of the Chef;
• Practices and maintains established standards for cleanliness and sanitation throughout all aspects of food preparation and service as required by the health department;
• Promotes and tracks a la carte and wine service sales in accordance with prescribed procedures;
• Complies with all provincial regulations, established food and beverage department policies and procedures and ORCA standards to ensure the department is tour ready;
• Participates in drills to prepare for emergencies and attends all education sessions in relation to emergency preparedness.
• Work in accordance with the organization’s Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act

What You Need To Know

• Must have the Smart Serve designation OR Serve It Right (SIRS) designation (for Saskatchewan locations) and one year experience in dining room service;
• Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team;
• Safe Food Handling Certification preferred;
• Experience working with seniors and knowledge of the aging process an asset;
• Proven customer service skills to work with residents of various cultural backgrounds
• Effective verbal and written English communication skills required
