Job summary

Aspira Hygate Waterloo Retirement Living in Waterloo, Ontario, part of Sienna Senior Living, is seeking a casual Server to support dining for residents. The role involves assisting with meal preparation and service in a warm, respectful environment.

You will help ensure a safe, clean, and pleasant dining experience daily, contributing to residents' comfort and happiness. This position covers upcoming vacation and current sick calls.

Qualifications

• Must have the Smart Serve designation OR Serve It Right (SIRS) designation (for Saskatchewan locations) and one year experience in dining room service.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team.
• Safe Food Handling Certification preferred; experience with seniors is an asset.
• Proven customer service skills to work with residents of various cultural backgrounds.
• Effective verbal and written English communication skills required.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work/study permit.
• Must pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records Check.

Responsibilities

• Support residents’ health and well-being by assisting with meal preparation and service, ensuring a safe, clean, and pleasant dining experience.
• Contribute to the culture of the home with a focus on helping residents live fully each day.

What you’ll be doing:

You will be a welcomed member of the team, working in a fast-paced environment where you will make a meaningful difference in residents’ lives. As a Server, you will support residents’ health and well-being by assisting with meal preparation and service, ensuring a safe, clean, and pleasant dining experience every day. As an individual and part of a wider team, you will be a strong contributor to the culture of the home, where the focus is always on helping residents live fully, every day.

• Responsible for all aspects of hospitality style dining service utilizing the Ready, Set, Serve Program as it applies to the serving areas, setting, serving and cleaning tables;
• Assists with the preparation and presentation of food under the direction of the Chef;
• Practices and maintains established standards for cleanliness and sanitation throughout all aspects of food preparation and service as required by the health department;
• Promotes and tracks a la carte and wine service sales in accordance with prescribed procedures;
• Complies with all provincial regulations, established food and beverage department policies and procedures and ORCA standards to ensure the department is tour ready;
• Participates in drills to prepare for emergencies and attends all education sessions in relation to emergency preparedness.
• Work in accordance with the organization’s Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act

What you need to know:
