Job summary

Fortra is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Canada to design, develop, document, test, and debug Windows-based software systems for internal and market use. You will work with product managers to outline roadmaps, mentor peers, and lead agile ceremonies while solving complex networking and kernel-related challenges.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years of experience, deep C/C++ expertise, Windows deployment and driver/user-mode knowledge, and a collaborative, proactive approach.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of software engineering experience required.
• Senior Software Engineer with proven leadership and Agile experience.
• Strong C/C++ in Windows and networked Windows apps.
• Experience with Windows kernel and services in user mode.
• Familiar with TCP/IP, VPN, SSL/TLS and related networking.
• Mentoring and cross-team coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, document, test, and debug new and existing software systems and/or applications for market sale or large-scale proprietary software for internal use.
• Work with the Product Managers to outline features for the product roadmaps.
• Work with different teams and products to understand requirements and design solutions.
• Identify and evaluate new technologies for implementation.
• Consult with end user to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs to meet needs.
• Create or align best practices
• Enforcement of standards
• Innovate process solutions
• Serve as technical expert on development projects.
• Participate in full development life cycle including requirements analysis and design.
• Write technical specifications based on conceptual design and stated business requirements.
• Work without supervision on the most complex projects.
• Complete latitude for independent judgment.
• Assist and mentor less experienced peers.
• Actively participate or take the lead in all Agile ceremonies.
