Job summary

Associated Environmental Consultants, part of the Associated Engineering Group, seeks a Senior Water Scientist/Engineer to provide strategic and technical leadership for aquatic science services in our Edmonton office. Lead multidisciplinary water projects from proposal to delivery, including water quality studies and regulatory assessments.

Ideal candidate has 12+ years in environmental consulting, strong client development skills, and professional registration or eligibility.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Water Resources, Environmental Science, Earth Sciences, Geography, Aquatic Sciences, Engineering, or related; MSc asset.
• 12+ years of environmental consulting experience with multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience leading complex water-related projects.
• Proven ability to develop client relationships and generate work.
• Registration (e.g. P.Biol., P.Eng.) or eligible within one year.
• Strong knowledge of provincial and federal regulatory frameworks, environmental assessment processes, water management legislation, and permitting requirements.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Experience with statistical analysis; R and/or Cormix modelling is a plus.

• Leading, preparing and reviewing technical reports, management plans, regulatory submissions, and environmental assessments.
• Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities and leading proposal development and client engagement activities.

• Collaborating with environmental and engineering professionals to deliver integrated advisory services.

What You’ll Be Doing

Does this sound like you?

• Undergraduate degree in Water Resources, Environmental Science, Earth Sciences, Geography, Aquatic Sciences, Engineering, or a related discipline; a graduate degree (M.Sc.) is an asset.
• 12+ years of environmental consulting experience, including technical leadership and working with multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex water-related projects.
• Proven success developing client relationships, generating work, and growing business opportunities.
• Demonstrated project management skills with responsibility for scope, schedule, budget, and client satisfaction.
• Professional Registration (e.g. P.Biol., P.Eng., or equivalent), or eligible for registration within one year.
• Strong understanding of provincial and federal regulatory frameworks, environmental assessment processes, water management legislation, and permitting requirements.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and leadership skills.
• A commitment to technical excellence, team development, collaborative leadership, and mentoring technical staff.
• Experience with statistical analysis, and tools such as R and / or Cormix modelling is an asset.
