Job description
What Your Day Will Look Like:

As a Senior Water Resources Engineer / Technical Practice Lead, you will take charge of a wide range of challenging and rewarding water-based projects across multiple industry sectors, and, as part of this, use your skills and expertise to provide targeted contributions to client deliverables from start to finish through field planning, desktop-based modelling and design analyses, and technical reporting and reviews. You will also work with other senior colleagues to help shape and run the overall water business through efforts to develop and maintain client relationships and pursuits, lead and grow technical service offerings, mentor and guide junior and intermediate staff, and foster and promote a shared vision

for technical innovation and excellence.

What You'll Do:
  • Deliver on a diverse set of integrated water management projects, with the aim of providing senior technical reviews, advisory support, and related contributions for the following types of surface water and groundwater work:
    • Baseline characterization studies, effects assessments, and water management analyses to support environmental assessments and other development planning initiatives;
    • Hydrotechnical assessments, civil engineering studies, and water quality modelling analyses to guide the design and implementation of development works and water management approaches;
    • Water-related environmental permitting and regulatory approval activities; and
    • Environmental monitoring and inspections during construction.
  • Use the results and outcomes from technical analyses to offer clients targeted, solution-focused advice and recommendations that consider climate change/resilience and other key environmental and socio-economic drivers.
  • Find and pursue new work opportunities, and, as part of this, help to prepare/deliver proposals and presentations.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships and commitments.
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior and intermediate staff.
  • Help guide and shape the water business via targeted input to business development strategies, resourcing needs, expanded service opportunities, and other key initiatives
  • Develop creative and innovative solutions for projects by staying current/up-to-speed on relevant regulatory drivers, emerging technologies, and market demands.
What You'll Need:
  • Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Water Resources or related field with associated professional credentials (P.Eng. or P.Geo.).
  • 10+ years of consulting or industry-related experience, and, along with this, demonstrated talents in leadership, communications (including technical writing and oral presentation skills), and strategic planning and project execution.
  • Experience with hydrology and hydraulic analyses, hydrotechnical and hydrogeological modelling applications, water-related monitoring and field programs, water management planning and design work, environmental assessment and regulatory permitting activities, and environmental statistics and related data analyses.
  • Proficiency with industry standard hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM), applied statistics, and data management tools.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian-based environmental policies and regulations.
  • Proven track record as a project manager and/or technical lead on projects of varying scale and complexity, with the know-how for prioritizing tasks and coordinating multiple jobs, teams, etc., simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety risks and mitigation requirements for working in and near water
