Job summary

Sameng, a subsidiary of Scheffer Andrew Ltd., seeks a Senior Water Resources Engineer and Project Manager to join our Edmonton team. Lead water resources assignments, manage projects from concept through delivery, provide senior technical review, and guide modelling, drainage, stormwater management, and municipal infrastructure work.

The successful candidate will bring 10–20 years of relevant experience, a Civil/Environmental/Water Resources degree, and registration or eligibility for P.Eng.

Qualifications

• A Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering degree is required.
• 10–20 years of relevant water resources or related experience.
• Master’s degree is an asset.
• Registration or immediate eligibility for P.Eng. with APEGA.
• Strong knowledge of stormwater management, drainage, modelling, and municipal servicing.
• Experience reviewing and guiding stormwater modelling and technical reports.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and supervise staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead water resources engineering assignments including stormwater planning and drainage assessments.
• Provide senior technical review for servicing and stormwater reports and modelling outputs.
• Manage water resources and municipal projects from initiation to completion, overseeing scope, schedule, and budget.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams with clients, stakeholders, sub-consultants, and authorities.
• Ensure projects meet timeframes, budgets, and high technical standards.
• Support client relationships, proposal development, and technical approaches.

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Water Resources Engineer and Project Manager to join our Edmonton team. This role is ideal for a senior professional who can lead water resources assignments, manage projects from concept through delivery, provide senior technical review. The successful candidate will bring strong technical judgment, project management experience, and the ability to guide modelling, drainage, stormwater management, and municipal infrastructure work.

What You’ll Do

You will take a senior technical and project management role in delivering water resources and municipal engineering solutions. Key responsibilities include:

• Lead water resources engineering assignments, including stormwater management planning, drainage assessments, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, and municipal infrastructure design support.

• Provide senior engineering review and quality control for servicing reports, stormwater reports, modelling outputs, design drawings, technical memoranda, and other engineering deliverables.
• Manage water resources and related municipal engineering projects from initiation through completion, with responsibility for scope, schedule, budget, technical quality, and client service.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and work closely with internal staff, clients, stakeholders, sub-consultants, contractors, and municipal representatives.
• Deliver projects within established timeframes and budgets while maintaining high standards for technical accuracy and communication.
• Build and maintain relationships with existing and potential clients, approving authorities, and industry partners.
• Support proposal writing, scope development, and technical approaches for water resources and municipal engineering opportunities.

What You Bring

• A degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering from a recognized institution, with 10-20 years of relevant engineering experience in water resources, stormwater management, municipal infrastructure, land development, or a related field.

• A master’s degree in Water Resources Engineering would be an asset.
• Registration, or immediate eligibility for registration, with APEGA as a P.Eng.
• Strong technical knowledge of stormwater management, drainage design, hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, municipal servicing, and related infrastructure.
• Proficiency with modelling and design software such as PCSWMM, SWMM, HEC-RAS, MIKE Urban, MIKE+, WaterCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or similar tools.
• Strong technical writing, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively with project teams, clients, and approval authorities.
• Experience reviewing and providing senior guidance on stormwater modelling work, technical reports, servicing reports, and engineering drawings.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, supervise technical staff, meet deadlines, and support a growing water resources practice.
