The Opportunity:
The primary focus of this role will be driving profitable growth of our National Cyber Practice through marketing, underwriting, strategic development, and management of relevant products and services. This position requires specialized knowledge of Cyber underwriting concepts, practices, procedures and techniques, including coverage issues, products, business development, and an ability to drive profitable growth in the marketplace.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Production-focused underwriting of assigned new business while managing renewals for select existing accounts, including analysis of risk and negotiation of policy terms and conditions while meeting growth, retention, and profitability targets in line with Liberty Mutual Canada’s strategies and treaties.
- Contribute to the development and execution of the Technology National Practice strategy.
- Where appropriate, attend local, North American, and Global Technology Industry calls/sessions and contribute to strategic discussions.
- Prepare, analysis, and present your portfolio rate / retention / booking metrics during monthly Cyber/Technology Team meetings.
- Act as a resource and authority point within the Technology team.
- Review and negotiate policy terms and conditions including drafting of manuscript wordings.Lead the expansion of Liberty broker/client base through development of marketing plans, product analysis and services while promoting our Technology Industry client solutions as well as other Liberty product offerings.
- Ensure proper organization and documentation of each underwriting file.
- Perform related duties as requested to include, but not limited to, report preparation, presentations, and special projects to assist in ensuring the success of our national Technology Practice.
- Keep the management team abreast of key developments on broker/market intelligence.
- Review, evaluate and analyze emerging technologies and trends within the industry to proactively address market changes and future coverage needs for technology and manufacturing clients.
- Work closely with Operations & Technology to identify, recommend, and execute on operational and technology initiatives to drive best-in-class service, productivity, and improve the efficiency of the renewal process.
- Meet or exceed audit requirements, compliance guidelines and underwriting best practices.
- Work closely with other Liberty business units to leverage multi-line business opportunities.
- Demonstrate effective prioritization of workload and provide superior customer service.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
Skills & Qualifications:
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience underwriting Cyber products.
- Post-secondary education including relevant Insurance designation(s)/education is considered an asset.
- Advanced knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures within the industry.
- Proven ability to profitably grow a portfolio of Cyber business.
- Self-starter with proven analytical skills and a proven track record in a solutions-oriented approach to underwriting that drives profitable growth.
- Comfortable with critical thinking and a growth mindset, with thoughtful consideration of diverse perspectives during decision-making and respectful of differences.
- Able to respectfully give and receive positive and constructive feedback.
- Effective at managing internal and external meetings with professionalism and clarity while driving mutual accountability for results.
- Effective at change management and adapting to new systems and processes.

- Ability to communicate in French is considered an asset.
