Job summary

MNP, a leading national accounting and advisory firm in Canada, seeks a Senior Bookkeeper for its ease Cloud Accounting Services team in Ontario. The role covers full-cycle bookkeeping, payroll, tax filings, and financial reporting for diverse clients, with flexible remote work possibilities.

Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of cloud accounting experience (QBO/Dext/Xero) and strong knowledge of payroll cycles, T4s, and general ledger processes. Competitive rewards and pension plans are offered.

Qualifications

• Certificate or diploma in business administration or accounting (asset).
• 3 years of full cycle bookkeeping experience.
• Experience with cloud accounting software (QBO, Dext, Xero).
• QBO Basic, QBO Advanced, Xero certifications considered assets.
• Understanding of corporate tax principles (asset).
• Experience preparing T4s.
• Knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop and Sage 50 is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Administer full cycle bookkeeping for clients in a fast-paced environment.
• Prepare payroll and related government remittances/filings; record sales, AR, expenses, AP, payroll, WCB.
• Prepare T4s and Records of Employment.
• Provide support and training to junior bookkeeping team members.
• Perform month-end and quarter-end close.
• Maintain and reconcile GL accounts; bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, AR, AP, accrued liabilities, intercompany and POS/uploads.
• Identify issues and discrepancies; discuss resolutions with supervisor/engagement partner.
• Monitor WIP and file budgets; identify out-of-scope opportunities.
• Liaise with clients on administrative matters and provide guidance to team.
• Identify areas for improvements for efficiencies in engagements.

Responsibilities

• Administer full cycle bookkeeping for MNP clients in a fast-paced environment
• Prepare and maintain payroll and related government remittances/filings, recording of sales, accounts receivable, expenses, accounts payable, payroll and Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) transactions
• Prepare T4s and Records of Employment
• Provide support and training to junior bookkeeping team members
• Perform the month-end and quarter-end close process
• Maintain, monitor and reconcile GL accounts including cash, bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accrued liabilities and intercompany and point of sale (POS)/system uploads
• Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies and discuss with supervisor or engagement partner to develop resolutions
• Monitor work in progress and file budgets; identify out of scope opportunities
• Liaise with clients on administrative matters and provide functional advice to other team members
• Identify areas for improvement for additional efficiencies in bookkeeping engagements
• Work collaboratively and develop and maintain relationships with clients and team members

Skills and Experience

• Certificate or diploma in business administration or accounting is considered an asset
• 3 years of full cycle bookkeeping experience
• Experience working with cloud accounting software such as QBO, Dext, or Xero is preferred
• QBO Basic, QBO Advanced, Xero and other application certifications are considered an asset
• Understanding of corporate tax principles is considered an asset
• Experience preparing T4s
• Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and processes
• Experience working with desktop software such as QuickBooks Desktop and Sage 50 is beneficial
