Job summary

WSP is seeking a Regional Lead for Mine Waste Dumps & Stockpiles to shape and grow a technical practice across Western and Northern Canada. You will set strategic direction, elevate technical excellence, and drive safety, sustainability and performance in mining operations.

You will mentor engineers, strengthen client relationships, and represent WSP at conferences and industry forums, helping to advance mine waste practice standards and expand the company's mining footprint.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in mine waste dump and stockpile engineering.
  • Deep understanding of Canadian mining operations, particularly in BC, Alberta, the Prairies, and Northern contexts.
  • Recognized leadership in technical forums, working groups, conferences, or industry committees.
  • Professional engineering designation (P.Eng. or equivalent) with eligibility for registration in applicable provinces.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical vision for mine waste dump and stockpile engineering across varied geological environments.
  • Drive innovation in design, operations, monitoring, and closure planning for mine waste facilities.
  • Mentor and develop emerging engineers into confident technical leaders.
  • Strengthen relationships with major mining clients and industry partners across BC, Alberta, the Prairies, and Northern Canada.
  • Represent WSP as a thought leader at conferences, technical committees, and industry forums.
  • Author and contribute to internal practice guidance and external technical publications.
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, sustainable, and future-ready solutions.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $194,700 – $257,900

MB & ON: $177,600 – $244,600

NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $175,800 – $233,500
