Job summary

A global engineering services firm is seeking a Senior Technical Advisor Electrical in Toronto, Ontario. The ideal candidate will have over 25 years of experience in Electrical Utilities, including inspection and compliance monitoring. Responsibilities span from verifying construction against specifications to ensuring safety and environmental adherence. Qualifications

  • 25 years minimum experience in Electrical Utilities.
  • Past Utilities, Construction and/or Inspection experience is an asset.
  • Must have a valid class G driver's license and a working vehicle for field audits.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all seasons and be flexible with hours.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and verify Electrical utilities construction performed by Contractors.
  • Review contract documents and monitor Contractor compliance.
  • Prepare reports with photos of daily field activities and track construction progress.
  • Monitor Contractor safety performance and report any OHSA violations.
  • Verify construction activities comply with Construction standards.

Senior Technical Advisor Electrical

Your role
  • Act as the Client representative in the field to inspect and verify Electrical utilities construction performed by Contractors, in the Urban Electrical Distribution System environment.
  • Review Contract documents and project specific plans and monitor Contractor compliance, verify contractor billing submissions to client.
  • Verify construction is built as per IFC drawings and Client specifications, using approved materials only.
  • Prepare weekly/daily reports with photos of daily field activities for every site, track construction progress and maintain a deficiency register.
  • Verify construction activities comply with Construction standards, issue Quality Non‑Conformance reports for deficiencies or non‑adherence to construction standards and monitor Contractor's corrective actions.
  • Monitor Contractor safety performance and report any deviations from Contractor's H&S Plan or violations of OHSA regulations, issue Safety Non‑Conformance reports and monitor Contractor's corrective and preventative actions for violations of safe work.
  • Monitor environmental performance and report any violations/deviations from the Contractor's Environmental Management Plan (EMP) or environmental regulations.
About You
  • Red Seal Certification for Power line Technician, Journeyman Power Cable Person or Construction & Maintenance Electrician with minimum 25 years of experience in Electrical Utilities.
  • Past Utilities, Construction and/or Inspection experience would be an asset.
  • Ability to interpret Design drawings and Standards.
  • Must have valid class G drivers license and access to a working vehicle for field audits.
  • Proficient with computers and familiar with MS Office Suite.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all seasons of the year and flexible on working hours.
  • Good verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.
